OpenAI is introducing a feature it calls “Intelligent UI” in ChatGPT, enabling the chatbot to respond with interactive visuals in addition to text. According to the company, responses can now include diagrams, charts, forms, tappable buttons, and similar elements. The update is rolling out to all users alongside GPT-6.

In a blog post describing the change, OpenAI says GPT-6 was trained to determine when to generate interactive visuals rather than plain text, and how to format those visuals within a response. One example shared by the company shows ChatGPT presenting a diagram of a seven-speed bicycle in reply to a question about its design, with interactive buttons that highlight different parts.

Why it matters

The change shifts ChatGPT’s output from text-centric answers toward richer, interactive formats, which could alter how users read and engage with responses.

Who should care

General ChatGPT users will encounter the new visual responses as the feature rolls out, and the tie to GPT-6 is relevant to those tracking OpenAI’s model releases.
