OpenAI has announced a new agent platform called Dots, according to The Verge. The agents feature blobby, anthropomorphic avatars and customizable names, and are positioned as workplace-oriented software that can also handle everyday tasks such as ordering food. The interface reportedly splits into two windows: one for chatting with the agent and another for following along as it carries out work.

The Verge notes that Dots resemble Meta’s Muse in their visual style but feel more like enterprise tools than a casual consumer assistant. Currently, users can create a single Dot, though OpenAI says support for multiple Dots is planned for the future.

Who should care

Professionals and organizations evaluating AI agents for workplace automation may find Dots relevant, given its stated emphasis on work-related tasks alongside personal errands.
