Google is extending its Personal Intelligence feature for Gemini to in-car use, bringing it to Android Auto and vehicles with Google built-in. With the update, Gemini can access a user’s information across Google apps including Gmail, Calendar, Maps, Photos, YouTube, and Search.

Google offers several examples of how this works. A driver heading to the airport can ask about flight status, and Gemini can retrieve the flight details from a confirmation email in Gmail before checking the status. Users can also say “take me to my doctor’s appointment” rather than manually entering directions, or ask Gemini to find a car wash referenced in a saved photo.

Why it matters

Linking Gemini to a user’s personal data across multiple Google services aims to reduce manual steps while driving, turning the assistant into a context-aware tool rather than a standalone voice command system.

Who should care

Drivers who use Android Auto or cars with Google built-in, and Google users who rely on its app ecosystem, are the primary audience for this update.
