Samsung has provided the first in-person look at its upcoming smart glasses, revealing two new designs and initial specifications, including a stated 9-hour battery life. The glasses are being developed in collaboration with Google and eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, and are scheduled to launch this fall.
The project has been teased for some time, with the first two designs shown at Google I/O in May. The newly revealed frames include a squared-off black pair from Gentle Monster and a more rounded, red-brown pair from Warby Parker. Each pair includes a camera, which The Verge notes raises the same privacy questions faced by Meta’s camera-equipped glasses.
Why it matters
Google’s and Samsung’s entry into camera-equipped AI glasses places them alongside Meta in a category where the presence of a camera on every device carries privacy implications for both wearers and bystanders.
Who should care
Consumers considering AI wearables, privacy-focused observers, and those following the competition among major technology companies in the smart glasses space.
