NVIDIA has announced RTX Spark, which it describes as a reinvention of the PC that merges the functions of a gaming machine, a creative studio and a personal AI supercomputer into a single superchip. According to NVIDIA, the platform provides up to 128GB of unified memory and 1 petaflop of AI compute, and delivers the full stack of NVIDIA RTX capabilities. The company states that the global PC application ecosystem is ready to support the new platform.
Why it matters
By unifying gaming, content creation and AI compute in one device with large unified memory and high AI throughput, RTX Spark targets workloads that previously spanned separate systems. Readiness of the surrounding app ecosystem is a factor in how quickly such a platform can be adopted.
Who should care
PC users, creators, and developers working with AI workloads may be interested in a single system that spans gaming, creative and AI tasks.
