Adobe announced that the mobile version of Lightroom, available on iOS, iPadOS, and Android, can now open closed eyes in photos using generative AI. When the app detects that a person or group has closed eyes, it automatically surfaces an Open Eyes Quick Action icon over the image, giving users one-tap access to the feature.

The report notes that opening a subject’s eyes to rescue an otherwise good photo has been part of Adobe’s Photoshop Elements for nearly a decade. However, as DPReview points out, Elements sourced the replacement from another photo, differing from the generative AI approach described here.

Why it matters

The feature lowers the effort required to correct a common photo flaw directly within a mobile editing app, moving a long-standing capability into a generative AI workflow accessible with a single tap.

Who should care

Mobile Lightroom users on iOS, iPadOS, and Android who edit portraits and group photos are the primary audience for this addition.
