Perplexity has extended its agentic Personal Computer tool to Windows, allowing computers running the operating system to function as a locally run AI system. According to the report, the tool operates as a “general-purpose digital worker” that can access local files and applications to perform actions, such as creating documents and updating spreadsheets.
The Windows release follows the Mac version launched in April and builds on integrations Perplexity introduced in May for Microsoft’s 365 workspace apps and Teams virtual meeting software.
Why it matters
Bringing an agentic tool to Windows targets the most widely used desktop operating system, potentially broadening access to local AI automation for a large base of users.
Who should care
Windows users and organizations already using Microsoft 365 and Teams may find the tool relevant, given its stated ability to work with local files, apps, and existing workspace integrations.
