Otter.ai, a meeting note-taking tool, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $320 million from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund (CVF). According to the company, the CVF provides capital to startups without diluting equity and earns returns based on the results of marketing spend.

Otter.ai said it plans to direct the funds toward enterprise growth, go-to-market strategy, international expansion, and product innovation.

Why it matters

The deal highlights an alternative financing structure in which capital is provided without equity dilution and returns are tied to marketing performance, rather than traditional equity rounds.

Who should care

Startups and enterprises evaluating non-dilutive funding options, as well as teams tracking the meeting-assistant market, may find Otter.ai’s financing approach and stated expansion plans relevant.
