Microsoft is removing Mico, the emotive yellow avatar, from Copilot’s voice mode. According to a Microsoft support page reported by GeekWire, the company will move Mico to its Learn Live platform, where it says the avatar will have “more to react to.”

Mico launched in Copilot’s voice mode last October. Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman had presented the avatar as a way to give the chatbot an “identity,” with the blob reacting in real time to what users said through facial expressions and animations.

Why it matters

The change marks another shift in how Microsoft presents its assistant products. Mico joins a list of virtual helpers the company has retired over the years, including Clippy, Cortana, and Rover.

Who should care

Copilot users who relied on or interacted with Mico in voice mode, along with those following Microsoft’s assistant strategy, will want to note the move to Learn Live.
