Meta has announced two new development tools that let users create games using AI prompts for its Horizon social platform. Horizon Create is a mobile app, while Horizon Studio is a browser-based app offering more granular controls. Both will be available in early access, and interested users can join a waitlist.

Meta also plans to expand the reach of games made with these tools: published titles can be recommended on Facebook and Instagram, where they will also be playable.

Why it matters

Horizon has struggled as a platform. By lowering the barrier to game creation through AI prompts and channeling distribution through Facebook and Instagram, Meta is attempting to drive more content and audience to Horizon.

Who should care

Creators interested in building games without traditional development workflows, and users of Meta’s social platforms who may encounter these games, are the primary audiences.
