Alibaba, the Chinese technology company, announced the release of Qwen3.8-Max, which it describes as its largest and “most capable AI model to date.” In a blog post published on Monday, the company said it was making the model widely available to users. Alibaba claims the model’s performance rivals systems from US frontier labs Anthropic and OpenAI, as well as domestic competitors including Moonshot AI’s Kimi K3. The company had previewed the model in the prior month, at which time it said the system was “second only to Fable 5,” described as Anthropic’s flagship.
