Amazon’s Prime Video is introducing an AI-powered feature that aligns an actor’s mouth movements with human-dubbed audio. According to Prime Video, the technology combines AI and visual effects to make lip motions match translated speech. The feature is initially limited to the English dub of the German series Maxton Hall, with the company saying it intends to bring it to additional titles later.
Why it matters
Dubbing traditionally leaves a mismatch between an actor’s lip movements and the translated audio. By adjusting lip movements to fit the dubbed track, the feature aims to make translated versions look more natural.
