Adobe is changing how editors use AI inside its Premiere professional video editing software. A new tool called Generative Media allows users to create video, sound effects, music, and soundscapes without leaving the project timeline.
According to the description, the underlying generators are not entirely new. The main shift is accessibility: rather than switching between browsers or external apps to find missing B-roll or audio, editors can highlight an empty gap on a video or audio track and generate context-aware, fully editable clips in place. Editors can also choose from multiple options.
Why it matters
The update targets workflow friction. By keeping generation inside the timeline, Adobe aims to reduce interruptions caused by moving between separate tools during editing.
Who should care
Video editors and professionals using Premiere are the primary audience, particularly those who regularly source supplemental footage or audio elements.
