The U.S. venture capital firm Accel has closed a new $550 million fund focused on India. According to the report, the fund was oversubscribed and closed within weeks, arriving 19 months after the firm’s previous India fund. That earlier fund totaled $650 million, and more than 55% of it remains available for deployment.

Why it matters

The rapid, oversubscribed close signals continued investor appetite for Accel’s India strategy, even as a substantial share of its prior fund has yet to be deployed.

Who should care

Startups and founders in India, as well as limited partners tracking venture capital activity in the region, may find the timing and size of the new fund relevant.
